Brad Eldred went 2-for-4 with his third home run of the season. Brandon Inge went 0-for-3 with two walks in his third and final game of his rehab stint. Brooks Brown got the start and gave up one earned run and one hit over three innings, walking three batters. Recently called up, Ramon Garcia threw four scoreless innings of one-hit ball and picked up the win. Matt Young went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Jay Voss gave up three runs (one earned) in 4 2/3 innings and picked up his second loss of the season in Erie’s home-opener. The bullpen used four arms in the final 4 1/3 innings, giving up two earned runs. Rob Brantly went 2-for-4 with Erie’s lone RBI. Bryan Pounds went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Recently called up, Luis Angel Sanz entered the sixth with a one-run lead and threw two solid innings, but the first four batters of the eighth reached as Sanz gave up a run and was credited with a blown save. In the 10th inning, Matt Little gave up a walk-off single and picked up the loss and the Flying Tigers lost their fourth straight game. At the plate, Nick Castellanos went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Avisail Garcia went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Thomas Collier threw a quality start, giving up three earned runs in six innings, but the Whitecaps offense didn’t come around in time, as Collier picked up the loss. Aaron Westlake went 1-for-3 with a double. Trailing 3-1 in the ninth, the Whitecaps hit back-to-back singles to start the inning. After a sac bunt, Danry Vasquez hit a sac fly to cut the deficit to one, but Colin Kaline flew out to end the game.
