10th Inning, Walk-off Slam Dooms Dodgers
-Matt Kemp hit a home run. No, really. He did. Sure, it just eeked over the right field fence and had to be reviewed, but it still counted. I'd like to see him pull the ball with authority, but the slump seems to be receding.
-Ted Lilly pitched well. In 5 innings, he allowed just one run on six hits and a pair of walks while striking out seven. For the most part, he mixed his pitches, changed speeds and located well. Those are keys to a successful season for him, as long as he's left in the rotation.
Now, the bad:
-The team went 4 for 33, left four runners on and went 0 for 4 with RISP. J.P. Howeell and Josh Wall each walked a pair of hitters to begin their respective innings, which resulted in runs. Carl Crawford got a late jump on a flare to left, lazily chased after it when it bounced off his glove and it resulted in the tying run scoring in the bottom of the 9th.
Thus ends the Dodgers' win streak at two. Looking for a rebound, the Dodgers send Hyun-Jin Ryu to oppose Jeremy Hefner in the finale. Game time is 10:10am Pacific.
