While the Orioles have been deliberate in receiving their players-to-be-named-later, they were quick to respond to the Texas Rangers needs in the form of Ben Snyder. Find out how the Orioles were affected by this year's Rule 5 Draft inside.

The Orioles completed their trade for Kevin Millwood Thursday morning as a part of the Rule 5 Draft. Baltimore selected left-handed pitcher Ben Snyder from the San Francisco Giants and traded him as the player-to-be-named-later in the deal that sent right-handed reliever Chris Ray to Texas in exchange for Millwood and cash.

Snyder is a 24-year-old pitcher who spent most of 2009 in the bullpen with San Francisco Giants' Double-A affiliate Connecticut Defenders. He started his final four games and compiled a 4-4 record with a 2.88 ERA in 34 games (97.0 IP).

The Orioles also selected right-handed pitcher Jose Duran in the Triple-A portion of the Rule 5 Draft. The 24-year-old pitched for the Houston Astros High-A affiliate Lancaster, where he spent most of the year in the bullpen. In 27 games (seven starts), he had a 2-5 record with an 8.06 ERA over 63.2 IP. Opponents hit .331 off of him in 2009.

Duran is currently pitching for Aguilas Cibaenas in the Dominacan Winter Baseball League. In nine games, he has no decisions and a 3.39 ERA over 13.1 IP, striking out 13 and holding opposing batters to a .235 average.

The Orioles also lost three players in the Rule 5 Draft. In the Major League portion, Steve Johnson was selected in the first round by the Giants. Johnson came to the Orioles from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the George Sherrill trade and anchored the Double-A Bowie Baysox rotation. He went 3-2 with a 2.84 ERA in seven starts (38.0 IP). He must be on the Giants 25-man roster for all of 2010 for the Giants to keep him.

Infidler Rodolfo Cardona and left-handed reliever Jake Stevens were selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates and Giants, respectively, in the first round of the Triple-A phase of the draft.
