While the plan was to let the players let the front office know when they are ready, not many could have expected it to happen by the end of May. Brad Bergesen proved it in spring training, Jason Berken's invite was lost in the mail and, now, David Hernandez is ready. Inside, get some background info on Hernandez, including his arsenal and what to expect.

David Hernandez, 24, will be the starter Thursday for the Orioles, as Koji Uehara has been placed on the disabled list. One more roster move will have to be made to make room on the 25-man roster, but Hernandez is already on the 40-man. Injuries and ineffectiveness have fallen upon the Orioles 2009 pitching staff, but not many expected too much out of the rotation this year. What was not expected...
